Integrity. Honesty. Commitment

My Platform

As your VP of Education and Research, I will ensure our funds are funnelled towards supporting your professional development, conferences, and special projects. I want to create a safe space for open communication with my fellow graduate students and look forward to hearing your feedback, so I can better serve the grad community.

  1. Increase the yearly educational grant  to  $800, so students can attend local or international conferences.

  2. Establish a NEW professional development grant that would help cover the cost of certificates, trainings, or workshops

  3. Make connecting/mentorships with Ryerson alumni accessible for graduate students by working with the Ryerson's Alumni Networks for an online platform.

  4. Support innovative graduate student-run projects with a limited number of awards

I have the experience and know what it takes to lead

I have extensive experience with student advocacy and deep Ryerson community ties. I was an undergraduate student at Ryerson University and a student advocate for multiple years in the Undergraduate Biology Course Union. For three years working under the BCU, I was able to learn how to lead an event, a team of students,  collaborate with various departments/faculty, and develop my time management skills. I also ran an Undergraduate Women in Science student group in collaboration with a few friends, that provided safe space for female identifying science students. I currently serve on the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Board as a graduate member and  I am the President for my Molecular Science Graduate Student Union (GSU).

I'm grateful for the people I get to work with in the GCU and what our union has been able to accomplish this year, such as having a meeting with Ryerson's EHS to address graduate student COVID-19 laboratory concerns. This meeting resulted in a new mandate that further protects students and  you can read more in our Newsletter.

  • A bursary towards under-represented groups to help improve fair and equitable access to educational opportunities.

  • The RGSU brokering a transit deal for graduate students to provide affordable transportation.

  • An Emergency Grant program providing assistance to students who are experiencing unexpected and immediate financial difficulties, constraints or hardship.

  • Work with on-campus partners to increase financial supports for graduate students during the ongoing pandemic.
